I WILL BE WORKING USING THE RIDER WAITE TAROT DECK AS A BASIS FOR THIS EXPLORATION.
This one makes me happy. This card is the other side of The Moon, just as The Chariot represents the other side of Strength. I like to think of The Star, The Moon and The Sun as a trio. With The Sun we come out of the uncertainty that we felt with The Moon, which was started by the new beginnings we found in The Star. This is an important phase in the journey of The Fool.

The colours in this card are so bright and warm. They are all traditionally associated with optimism and positivity. This card has strong connections to the sun gods of all cultures, from the Greek Apollo to the Egyptian Ra. This is a card of knowledge and enlightenment. The shadows cast by The Moon have been lifted.
In the card we see a naked child riding a horse. This child represents us and the innocence we each have inside us. The child does not need reigns to ride the horse, suggesting a balance between our subconscious and conscious minds. This echoes the message from The Moon when we must walk the path between our conscious and subconscious. It also represents The Chariot and that there is no need to try to control those subconscious forces when we have the ability to work in tandem with them.
The child holds a red flag which symbolises celebration and energy. He is on a forward journey and does not seem concerned looking behind him. In fact, behind the child is a wall suggesting there is no way of going back now. Above the child is an anthropomorphic sun shining above the child and the horse. The Sun is the source of life and of much enlightenment in our world and this is represented here.
When The Sun appears in a reading, it is never a negative card. It represents abundance and happiness. It also represents inner strength and an inner guiding light. This is a card about your soul working in tandem with your spirit and achieving a higher and more enlightened state of consciousness. You are working in tune with yourself. No part of your self has dominion over another. You are in balance.
You may be feeling very confident right now and it is well deserved. You are on the right track and have been making moves towards becoming more in tune with yourself. You are expressing yourself fully and well.
When The Sun appears reversed in a reading, you may not be tapping into that confidence that you should have. You may be allowing your light to be dimmed by external forces. As mentioned earlier, this is never a negative card and you should not be upset if it appears reversed, it simply means that you hold all you need within you, you are just not expressing it or letting it out in ways that you are capable of.
