Wheel of Fortune is a very well known concept. We have all seen some version of this in our lives- be it on a TV show, or as a general turn of phrase. We know that this means that people's situations can change drastically in a short space of time, either for better or for worse. Shakespeare relied heavily on the concept of a Wheel of Fortune in his plays King Lear, Hamlet, and Henry V to explain how the fortunes of his characters could so drastically change.
The Hermit
Querents always seem to fear this card. As soon as it is shown to them I can see the dread cover their face. I see many, many readings of this card which purport it to be something inherently negative. Of course, the card at a first glance might look a bit gloomy but it is a beautiful card to tell you that you are on your way to something quite special.
Strength
A calm and gentle woman robed in white leans over and has dominion over a lion, cradling his jaw. This is a powerful image with multi layered messages. This is not strength as we may traditionally imagine it.
The Chariot
As the seventh card in the Major Arcana, The Chariot really packs a punch. There is a sense of prestige in this card, the imagery pays homage to times gone by, when those with physical prowess, courage and sheer determination were rewarded with fame, money and glory.
The Lovers
The Lovers depicts a naked man and a naked woman underneath an angel. This is a card of unity and opposites that connect. The masculine and feminine which up until this point in the Tarot have been separate come together in this card. This is also a card about choice and the loss of innocence...
The Hierophant
Similar to The Emperor, The Hierophant is a powerful figure in the Major Arcana. Where The Emperor deals with that which is material, The Hierophant deals in spiritual power. In many decks The Hierophant is called The Pope. He is a powerful teacher who holds many secrets within him.
The Emperor
I WILL BE WORKING USING THE RIDER WAITE TAROT DECK AS A BASIS FOR THIS EXPLORATION. Following his female counterpart, The Emperor is strong and capable. Where The Empress is a motherly figure, The Emperor is the father figure in the Tarot. He is a constant and masterful figure. The Original Rider Waite Tarot Deck…
The Empress
The Empress sits proudly on her throne. She is a mother, a representation of fertility and love. She is graceful and radiates the energy of Hera. She brings abundance and peace.
The High Priestess
A truly beautiful card that connects with me, as it does with many women. This is the card of the Divine Feminine. She is beautiful and powerful, capable and gentle. She is intuitive and knowledgeable, a true force to be reckoned with.
The Magician
The Magician is the first numbered card in a Tarot deck as 1. The Fool is 0 and therefore does not necessarily belong act as the actual first card. The Magician is a worldly being who has seen much and gathered much knowledge. Laid out before him are the symbols of all the Tarot- the cups, wands, pentacles and swords representing the four elements of the earth, water, air, earth and fire.
